Individuals impacted by ADHD constantly face adversity in managing their day to day lives, particu larly getting and staying organized. Those individuals who are resilient, find a way to bounce back and achieve success. Psychologists have identifie d, over the past two decades, many of the protective factors that contribut e to resilience and have found that resilience can be developed. In this se ssion, we will trace the evolution of understanding about resilience and ho w it applies to individuals with ADHD. Results of the presenter’s and other s’ recent research on which attributes contribute most to resilience will a lso be offered. Finally, participants will have the opportunity to learn s ome of the strategies that have been shown to build resilience.
